Day 10, 1:56 PM, July 5th, 2024

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Hello! I am currently in a bookstore, and I have just bought some Isaac Asimov books from the book market. I was just reading I, Robot, a collection of short stories. It is currently raining, and we will soon go out and walk to an Albert-Heijn to get some food.

Yours truly,

Dorrel

Day 10, 3:35 PM, July 5th, 2024

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Hello! I am currently in a Lush store, waiting while Sis and Mom do weird (illegible) (illegible) with their faces. We just visited some sorta women’s only neighborhood, where we saw a juvenile herring gull. We also got some typical Dutch weather raining down upon us, but we have rain jackets for that.

Yours truly

Dorrel

The photo he took of the juvenile Herring Gull. By “some sorta women’s only neighborhood,” Dory means the Begijnhof, which was a space for beguines to live. Beguines were nun-adjacent—they were religious and lived in community but did not take vows. (photo: Dory)

The metro stop we took on the way back had a particularly interesting set of escalators. (photo: Dory)
